About MAJ
The Ministry of Justice has established the Maison d’Access á la Justice (MAJ) in every District with three (3) lawyers
per District to assist citizens to access justice by providing with them free legal aid.
Their major responsibilities include:
- To advise people on law related issues;
- To disseminate laws and regulations;
- To provide legal assistance and legal representation in Courts for poor and vulnerable people;
- To fight against Gender Based violence and child abuse;
- To coordinate the execution of court judgments at Local levels and execute judgments for indigent people;
- To ensures proper functioning of Abunzi Committees activities.
